Elf, Shadow

With their unearthly grace and fine features, shadow (shadar-kai) elves appear hauntingly beautiful to humans and members of many other races. They are slightly shorter than humans on average, ranging from well under 5 feet tall to just over 6 feet. They are more slender than humans, weighing only 100 to 145 pounds. Males and females are about the same height, and males are only marginally heavier than females.   Elves’ coloration encompasses the normal human range and also includes skin in shades of copper, bronze, and almost bluish-white, hair of green or blue, and eyes like pools of liquid gold or silver. Elves have no facial and little body hair. They favor elegant clothing in bright colors, and they enjoy simple yet lovely jewelry.   Once shadow elves were fey like the rest of their elven kin, and now they exist in a strange state between life and death.

Gylidder Shadow Elves

Halfway between Worlds: In the depths of the underdark beneath Gylidd Syn Aethri, beyond even the most sightless scouted tunnel of the grey dwarf holds, the furthest reaches of the dark elves' six cities, and the endless maze of the deep gnomes' Dragothic Kingdom, a civilization of shadow elves have cultivated a leyline. Their settlements, which they purposefully never map and never name to keep them safe from outsiders, exist half within the material plane, and half within a section of the plane of shadow where their dark inaethric pantheon holds sway. They have existed beneath the surface for so long that legends say they were born there, independently of the other races. On occasion, individuals from their society will travel to the surface, but rarely intentionally - usually they emerge due to the morphic and treacherous nature of the Shadowfell, which bends space and time to deposit them in other realms with little hope to retrace their steps back home. Nothing is publicly known about their leaders, aside from the fact that they always side with Vykdramir Dauddraig in votes at Gyliddring.

Verberan Shadow Elves

The Shadeshunned: The shadar-kai of Verbera reside within the Shadowfell, having been banished from the Feywild alongside the Nameless One, a powerful archfey that wronged the rulers of the Gilded Grove. Tending to be quiet and reserved, they are quite difficult to find and rarely travel alone.
