Tortle Species in Myzelis | World Anvil

Tortle

Tortles stand between 5 and 6 feet in height. They can weigh anywhere from 500 to 700 pounds as they have massive shells on their backs. Tortles otherwise appear like large, bipedal turtles and have no hair and dull green, gray and brown scaley skin. Tortle eyes have pupils that are horizontal ovals in shape. The irises are vibrantly colored, usually blue, but sometimes green or red. A tortle's mouth is beaklike and toothless and can deliver a vicious bite. A tortle's head is dominated by its curved, toothless beak, with the eyes set back under bony brows that occasionally appear to obscure the eyes altogether.

Gylidder Tortles

Shell of the South Shores: the coastline of southern Gylidd, despite freezing early and often further inland, is warm enough to shelter several tortle communities - although they never go further east than the docks of Asheido. They are master navigators of the rocky sandbars and choppy seas, maintaining several bright lighthouses on distant reefs that seem to disappear at all but the lowest tides. The largest settlement among them is known as Prakam Golundy, built at the nape of an inlet formed by the Vorlus, a subterranean river that flows south from the Rachis Range under the Petrified Wood. The harbormaster there - a priest of Araclade named Danmagin, doubles as the town's mayor and as the governor of the tortle villages.
