Aswani Civil War

The Aswani Civil War was a revolt by eastern Bocrae beginning in 3913 EC, which lead to the founding of the nation of Aswana.   Bocrae's failure to maintain control over what is now Aswana lead to their control of the region greatly diminishing.

The Conflict

Prelude

Aswana was the most wealthy and powerful region of Bocrae, thanks to a much warmer climate that allowed them to cultivate numerous profitable crops. Their sale of fine linen and dyes made them wealthy and powerful. Bocrae's taxes, and the strict control of the monarchy lead to growing discontentment among wealthy Aswani merchants.   With backing from Iccot, soldiers were raised and the war began.

Deployment

The nations of Veczi and Lenif refused to become involved in the civil war, creating a choke point along the northern coast of the Panari Waves that greatly hindered Bocrae's movement.   The relatively minor house House Drahoslav was a major player in the war, as the count was in control of the only land route into Aswana. In exchange for their support during the war, the count's son Oldrich Drahoslav was betrothed to be wed to Crown Princess Ilari Ctrad.   The Bocraean House Tamara refused to allocate additional soldiers to the war efforts, but maintained the majority of their holdings around the coastal city of Tezusk.

Outcome

Aswana was founded, and entered the political landscape as a very wealthy, but relatively unstable nation. Trade with Iccot began immediately, and with other nearby nations soon after.

Aftermath

Bocrae's empire was crippled, losing both its most profitable region as well as the source of a majority of its food crops. It has struggled to maintain its northern region since the end of the war, with growing discontentment among even city dwellers that were once its most ardent supporters.
