LGBT Issues

The many cultures of Aisoa approach queer issues in a variety of ways. Thanks to the diversity of life on the continent, queer identities are largely more normalized than in a comparable time period in the real world, but is still dependent on culture.   Xeblisau is extraordinarily accepting of queer and trans identities thanks to the widespread worship of a god of romance and fertility who is commonly depicted with intersex anatomy.   The Sokolan Empire was notably accepting of queer identities thanks to an incredibly popular queen.   Though the Stross remains more heteronormative, the aid from Sokol had a profound effect on their acceptance of queer identities. Bisexuality is sometimes considered a 'human thing' in areas that adhere to old dwarven tradition.   Veczi has recently had issues honoring deceased gender neutral leaders, having two honored burial zones 'Hall of the Revered Kings' and 'Hall of the Revered Queens'.   In Northern Usmina, marriage under the law is still defined as a union between a man and woman. Inheritance law remains complicated for same-sex couples, and those with gender neutral presentation are lumped in with their birth sex.

Medical Transition

For those who wish to medically transition, there exist some very effective alchemical concoctions that allow a person to slowly and permanently change their form and voice. In addition to this, simple charms allow for the illusion of such effects, though this is a method that would require complex magic to work for long periods.   These alchemical creations are quite expensive, though, and usually out of reach for common folk. The Alchemist's Guild is one of the only organizations with knowledge to create such elixirs, and they jealously guard these formulae. Though they preach that the ability to change forms would lead to the decay of the moral fabric of society, they still sell them at high prices and presumably rake in large profits. It is said they also command formulae that allow even faster change of appearance, and sell them to the highest bidders.
