Suriel

<Soo-ree-el>

Warmother

Suriel is an old god of battle, warfare, and bravery. She is said to have been one of the generals who lead the primeval armies against Tazan, the Ravenous One. In this great battle that lasted hundreds of years, it is said that millions of unknowably powerful entities gave their lives to seal away Tazan.

Baelorn, The First Weapon

  In Suriel's battle against Tazan, it is said that she wielded the very first weapon to exist - a sliver of the sun Bael, a blade of pure white fire. With this blade, she struck the final blow that tore the beast apart - but as its final act, Tazan severed the arm that wielded the blade.   Where the arm fell, Suriel's blood mixed with Tazan's, and gave birth to the first of the demonic Primacy, Lumex. Born from her own blood, Suriel was unable to act against Lumex - a curse that persists to this day.   It is said that Suriel returned to Bael. As repayment for the celestial body's aid in defeating Tazan, she swore to protect it from any who might do it harm. The greatest warriors and gods that remained behind were entrusted with the fire that formed Baelorn, and used it to forge grand new weapons in the fight against demonkind.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

By far the most common symbol of Suriel the blindingly bright sun, Bael. It adorns everything from shields, to banners, or even warpaint directly on her devout.   Though the exact nature varies heavily by region, blades made of a white flame are incredibly common motifs in art related to Suriel. The most common depictions in Aisoa are curved swords, and glaives.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

As a creature who has existed longer than nearly any other, Suriel's exact appearance is up to some debate. Most interpretations, however, enjoy heavy usage of flame motifs.   On Aisoa, she is generally depicted as a human or elven looking figure made entirely of a white fire. Wide wings of white sprout from her back, and she has two sets of arms - though one appears severed just above the elbow.   It is considered extremely poor taste - if not outright sacrilegious - to depict Suriel in a position of vulnerability, and is usually portrayed wielding her blade Baelorn to strike down a foe.
