Essence Sweepers

An essence sweeper is someone, often either children or people at the lowest point of society, gathers up the wasted Essence dust left behind by Self Pulling Carriages and passing airships. There is no guild or union for the Sweepers, and in truth it isn't a recognized job, however The Empire officials will pay for any essence recovered, although its barely enough to live on.
Although over a short period the job has no lingering effects, if a person works as a sweeper for more than a few years, the fine powder of the essence damages the lungs, causing illnesses such as Essence Poisoning.
Many Greys find themselves working as sweepers.
