Geography of Kaechaek
Kaechaek's weather is as unpredictable as the dreams people have, often having uniquely wild changes in the geography of the land that many struggle to travel across, let alone tame and master... though many nations have tried and failed.
The important aspects of weather in Kaechaek is that of extremes, it's mountain ranges in The Slumbering Incisors and The Tightened Jaws are exceptionally cold whilst the north of Kaechaek, beyond The Faux Lock is exceptionally cold. Meanwhile the centre of Kaechaek is filled with endless dessert and heat punctuated only by The Resting Oasis and Thorned Oasis. Meanwhile the further south aspects of Kaechaek are more abundant and natural.
Kaechaek is split into different sections in terms of geography, below are the geographic features and how heavily they feature in Kaechaek… along with their associated dreams and nightmares:
- Desert: Searing heat, very little water and undulating sands. Kaechaek’s deserts are fearsome and unforgiving, home of fire worms, giants and elementals. Some civilisations have built settlements there but it is also a heavy source of Raiders markets despite them being primarily based in The Wheel in the south, as well as bounty hunters and survivors.
The Deserts belong to nightmares of claustrophobia, starvation and burning alive… as well as dreams of passion, lust and holidays. - Tundra: Frigid, deathly cold spaces that often consist of jagged mountain peaks, heavily wrapped settlements built for survival and frost giants and remorhaz that rove underneath the ice. Many Hunter's reside in the tundra due to the threats on the ice.
The tundra belongs to nightmares of drowning, falling and isolation… as well as dreams of statues, art and the flowing sea. - Mist: Shrouded spaces of secrecy where the presence of the Quori and Nocta Mora is most present and most violent, battlegrounds that are truly a struggle to survive within. Very few settlements reside here, but many sit on the outskirts, devoted to the destruction of any threats that spill from the Mist. This is also where The Venator, the hunters of dreamers, reside in their highest quantity, the ruins of Inkbowl and Shadewoods are spaces of the Mist primarily.
- Untamed: Zones of pure wild magic and unpredictability. This is the area where the dreams and nightmares of madmen reside and so is an alice in wonderland level of trippy adventure when compared to other spaces. Many of the underground city’s are found in these untamed zones and so, while the risks are immense… the rewards cannot be understated for those that have the courage to investigate these zones… the most popular settlement in the untamed zones is The Diamond a Peridot city/settlement devoted to investigating these zones and finding the secrets within, many of the most potent Planar-Forges are found in the untamed.
The Untamed belongs to nightmares of failure, nothingness and not being understood… as well as dreams of secrets unearthed, boundaries crossed and rewards for success. - Buried: The mining towns of Kaechaek, such as Bloomwilt. This has turned the creatures of the underdark into twisted and dark abominations that have no sense of civilisation or organisation.
The Buried belongs to nightmares of claustrophobia, being buried alive and being lost as well as dreams of freedom, fresh air and victory. - Forest/jungle: Luscious, overgrown and filled with dangers, the forest have towering crisscrossing trees that make very little sense and often result in a group, without a skilled tracker, getting lost and dying out there with ease. Very few settlements stay here that are not finely tuned with the forest madness and so are often savage in their outlooks and approaches to those outsiders who invade their land. Guides and outposts for mercenaries are common around forests due to the many alchemical opportunities that reside within, elements of tghe Shadewoods and The Scaled Wood are spaces of the forest/jungle.
The forest belongs to nightmares of bondage, entrapment and sickness as well as dreams of bondage (looking at you Kat), wealth and satisfying meals.
