Father Donavich

Father Donavich was a human man that lived in Barovia Village. He lived in, and tended to, the mostly dilapidated church in the village. In the rare case that worshippers showed up to use the churches sparse amenities, Donavich served as the priest. Donavich himself was short and stout, sporting pale skin and sad looking eyes. He was certainly stressed most of the time, as he'd eventually need to begin looking after his son Doru, a young man that had been turned into a vampire spawn. Donavich would lock Doru up in the basement of the church, occasionally providing him with raw meat in an attempt to stave off bloodlust.

History

Meeting the Saviours

In AoR 597, an adventuring group that would later be known as the Saviours of Barovia, arrived in Barovia Village. They would grace the doorstep of Father Donavich's church, asking him for help in the burial of Townmaster Kolyan Indirovich. Father Donavich himself would read the last rites to Torm, begging the Morning Lord to see Kolyan's soul through The Void.
The Saviours would also discover the presence of Doru, locked deep within the church basement. Father Donavich pleaded for his son's life, acknowledging that while he was currently a monster, he had hoped to find a way to change him back. The Saviours abided by the Father, and left the vampire spawn unharmed.

Wedding in Ravenloft

In a cruel twist of fate, Father Donavich was asked to preside over the wedding of Ireena and Strahd Von Zarovich himself. He was forced by Rahadin, who personally escorted the priest to Ravenloft. During the wedding, the Saviours of Barovia would launch an attack upon Strahd and his allies. Luckily, during the chaos Donavoch would escape harm. He, and many other survivors, would stay hidden within Ravenloft and awaited a signal from the Saviours to finally leave the cursed castle.
Donavich returned to Barovia Village, though his spirit was throughly sapped by the evil he had witnessed in his life and more recently within Ravenloft. He returned a broken man, his only purpose being the continued caretaking of his vampiric son.
