Redcrest Dwarves

These Dwarves get their name from their chosen settlement location, deep within the Redcrest Mountains. The population of dwarves in Talia is already lower than average, an even smaller group have chosen to reside solely in a mountainous fortress known as Cor Garom.   The solitary road to the fortress is a perilous one to any unfamiliar with the terrain and presents challenges to even seasoned couriers and merchants. It winds down from Cor Garom in the eastern cluster of peaks to Aunia Lake, making Dragontale their only connection to the larger region outside of their home.   A relatively small fortification stands at the entrance, serving as a beacon to guide travellers in the right direction and also a trading station where goods can be easily exchanged without delving deep inside the mountains. The Redcrest Dwarves do not permit outsiders to descend into their fortress, they must instead remain on the surface and make use of the minimal facilities there.   Dwarves that have spent the majority of their lives inside the mountains have developed a permanent reddish stain on their skin from working the natural red rock, giving them a unique appearance. It can appear to be some kind of rash or infection to those unfamiliar with the dwarves and their community, those very few that make the journey to the city and beyond are often barraged with strange gazes from passersby. They have a reputation for coming across as rude and impatient individuals and are intolerant of mindless small talk or delays.   Apart from infrequent trade, the Redcrest Dwarves are incredibly secretive and isolated from the rest of the continent. It is not known how many exist within their fortress nor any insights into their customs, structures or quality of life.
