Sehraya
Sehraya was the home of The Rootbound, many kilometres within The Ommiknit during The Era of Tranquility. The civilisation consisted of both ground and tree dwellings, according to the location and level of threat the firbolg residents were currently facing. However their forest home provided excellent protection from giantkin, who would not hesitate to kill firbolgs.
Settlement History
The Rootbound lived nomadically for a long time, both outside, and then inside the Ommiknit. They chose to create a settlement in order to deepen their bond with the forest around them, and to enjoy a more protected and less fatiguing lifestyle. While Sehraya became a large settlement over the course of it's lifespan, it was made of a network of smaller communities who spread their dwellings over a large area, and a lot of effort was put into creating residences and other buildings that blended with the forest. This both helped protect the firbolgs' privacy, and reflected their dedication to protecting and nurturing the forest that protected them. While the Rootbound created both ground and tree dwellings, there was a general tendency to favour tree dwellings both for protection, and to avoid too much interference with the flourishing flora of the forest floor.
One of the earliest threats to face the newly established settlement was the appearance of the Mayeeta Wolves. The firbolg had not encountered this species before, despite many decades spent wandering the forest, leading to popular theories that the wolves had been sent or created to prevent them from permanently settling in the forest. The wolves were a particular threat in the first few years of the settlement, as they had a tendency to pick off even the younger and stronger members of the community if they were alone or in pairs. During winters, they became more openly aggressive, resulting in many deaths and injuries, before the community began to favour tree dwellings. Sehraya was destroyed in 3 FT, as a result of The First Great Turbulence.
