The Dark Oak Trading Company
Part of the Toters' and Carters' Guild, The Dark Oak Trading Company owns and runs the land-based trade route starting in Lankhmar and ending at the Karja Tal Trading Post, and the sea-based trade route between Lankhmar and Duhn Glorr.
The Dark Oak contracts low-level mercenaries from time to time to assist the guards they employ, especially if the caravan's payload is higher in value, if weather conditions are more severe, or if raiders are posing a threat to the successful completion of the trade route. Naturally, this gives newer adventurers a great opportunity to cut their teeth.

The Dark Oak Trading Company frequently hires members from Slayer to protect high value payload deliveries, retrieve stolen goods, or act as personal bodyguards whenever merchants feel they need extra personal protection.

The Dark Oak Trading Company is part of the Toters' and Carters' Guild, as all caravans in Western Nehwon are. Dark Oak resents having to pay the monthly fees to Toters', as they feel they are getting nothing in from the relationship. Toters' has heard this opinion from the leaders of Dark Oak, but gently remind them the Protection Contract from Slayer is between Toters' and Slayer, not between Dark Oak and Slayer, and that is the value of the guild membership and where part of the guild dues are spent.
