Freewater Nation
The Freewater Nation was a collection of outposts in the Freewater Islands under Derganolan control until just a few centuries back, when a few charismatic local leaders convinced the fractured local populations to unite in revolution. A devout people, they credit the success of their revolution to a series of storms that repelled the Dergonolan fleets, and as such bear a fierce devotion to Ok’Magar, Thunder's Fury.
Though there is a slight Orcish (including part-orcish) racial majority, the population of the Freewater Nation is very mixed, and has attracted detractors from Derganol over the years.
Notably, they had the strongest settlement presence on the Golia Islands before they were replaced by Breaksky Island, and as such, believe they have a stronger claim than the other states of the world to the riches of the treacherous island. These claims are, of course, universally ignored.
Values
Piety, resolution, and community are highly valued within Freewater society. Additionally, their cultural heroes are often maritime figures; the image of the captain fiercely loyal to their crew is a recurring cultural throughline. Their society ostensibly preaches a gender equality, but a persistent patriarchal history undermines this claim.History
Religion
A strong worship of Ok’Magar exists in Freewater society, though the other gods see significant worship as well. The populace is particularly pious on the whole, even though there is no universally dominant religion (as is the case in The Kasainan Kingdom).
