Currency

There are multiple types of Currency in NEXUS. Most can be earned through normal gameplay while others can only be acquired through optional purchases in The Emporium. Currency that players have accumulated is always available for use, and is not at risk of loss as it is not considered part of a player’s Inventory.

Astrals

Astrals are the primary Currency used throughout the system. Each Astral is a collection of rare minerals compressed into tradable matter. Astrals are not minted by any central authority, but rather discovered and traded. They have a set, accepted value and are accepted almost anywhere.
Players can earn Astrals by completing Bounties, Quests, and Missions, by defeating Enemies, and selling items. Astrals can then be used to purchase weapons, armor, and other items from vendors as well as paying for Gear Repair or various other services.

Oaths

Oaths are a Currency only used in specific locations throughout the system. They are effectively a pledge of loyalty or allegiance and as such do not have a set, universal value. Oaths are based on an individual's Reputation, so the more powerful and trustworthy a person is, the more their Oaths are worth. This is particularly beneficial with Factions who often will only allow those with high reputations and valuable Oaths to take on important tasks.
The lower a player’s reputation, the less their Oaths are worth. A player with a low reputation attempting to pay with Oaths either will not be allowed, or will be required to pay much more than they would with a high reputation. Not everyone will accept Oaths, but those who do are particularly powerful and particularly dangeous.
Taking on tasks via Oaths can result in negative consequences such as reducing the Reputation with different Factions. Using too many Oaths as well can cause negative effects including PVP bounties being placed on the player, additional fees or required tasks to return to a Faction's good graces, or even NPC assassins that target those in debt.

Carbon Shards

Carbon Shards are a special Currency made of ultra-condensed carbon deposits, somewhat similar to diamonds. They are extremely valuable to explorers and artisans. Carbon Shards are used to purchase special items from The Emporium in-game store as well as specific items listed on The Black Market. Carbon Shards can be earned through several avenues of gameplay such as Faction rewards, rare Expertise Drills, special vendor Bounties, and other difficult endgame content

Palladium

Palladium is an extremely rare currency and precious material to collectors. As the premium Currency in NEXUS, it is accepted by The Emporium in-game store to purchase emotes, account upgrades, and other premium goods. Palladium can be obtained by converting Carbon Shards at a 5:1 value or by spending real-world money which will be converted into the in-game currency in the following four quantities:

• 500 for $4.99 ($0.01 each, no bonus)
• 1,000 for $9.99 ($0.01 each, no bonus)
• 2,200 for $19.99 ($0.009 each, 10% bonus)
• 5,750 for $49.99 ($0.0087 each, 15% bonus)
• 12,000 for $99.99 ($0.0083 each, 20% bonus)

Palladium may be converted directly into Carbon Shards free of charge at a 1:5 value.
Palladium can also be used for quality of life purchases that only affect individual player’s experiences. This includes instant Gear Repair, increased Crafting and Upgrades speed, renaming or recreating a player’s character, and more.

Trades

Some NPCs offer items for barter instead of currency and accept specific resources. Players can exchange the desired items in their Inventory or Armory for the items from the NPCs. These traded-for items are transferred to the player’s Inventory.
