Tactical Reload
Weapons are reloaded based on the amount of reserve ammunition available. If there is enough reserve ammo to fill an entire magazine, reloading a weapon automatically fills the magazine completely. If there are not enough rounds in reserve to fill the magazine, it will be filled up to the amount remaining. Weapons will automatically reload a new magazine when they have run out of ammo, however players may opt to manually initiate a reload as well.
Whenever a weapon is reloaded in Combat, players have an opportunity to acquire a skill-based boon. When the reload begins, a small semicircle will appear next to the player’s aiming reticle and a slider will ramp up in speed, moving from the bottom towards the top of the semicircle. This thin, opaque bar represents the time it takes for the current weapon to be reloaded. Allowing the slider to reach the end will reload the weapon normally. However, players may choose to attempt a Tactical Reload during this time.
Within the meter, a small section will be highlighted. This is the window of time a Tactical Reload can be performed. Pressing the reload button a second time while the slider crosses over this section will initiate a Tactical Reload.
A successful Tactical Reload instantly reloads the weapon and provides 10% damage bonus to the current magazine for up to 10 seconds. This process may be repeated for subsequent magazines, however each successful Tactical Reload reduces the size of the Tactical Reload section, making it more difficult to perform.
If the player attempts a Tactical Reload but mistimes the activation, the reload is a failure resulting in a weapon jam. This causes the total reload time of the current magazine to be 50% slower and does not provide any bonus.
In either scenario, if a Tactical Reload is performed, an audio and visual indication will occur to show the success or failure of the Tactical Reload.
