Weapons
Weapons are the primary means of Damage that players will use to defeat Enemies. There are many different Weapon Classes and types, each with a unique Combat style.
Weapons that use projectiles will generally not use projectile speed but are instead hitscan, inflicting damage instantly. However, some weapons do have projectiles that have travel time to hit to balance out their power and the skill required to use them.
Weapon use is governed by ammunition which can be obtained by defeating enemies, purchasing from vendors, and locating in the field while looting. Different weapons require different ammunition types, so once a weapon the player is using has expended their ammunition, they will not be able to use it further until more ammunition is found.
The composition of these weapons is based on the Loadout Power System wherein any combination of weapons may be equipped as long as the sum of their cost is below their allotted point limit and the gear is able to be equipped without restrictions.
Additionally, players may find Epic and Legendary weapons with similar names, but their stats and perks will often vary individually.
Melee If a player has a non-Melee weapon equipped, activating the Melee attack input will execute an unarmed punch. To use their equipped close quarters weapon, it must be swapped to and readied using the correct input.
All Melee weapons have an unlimited use standard attack, and many have a limited use Alternate skill that varies from item to item.
Melee weapons can also be used to Block incoming attacks and reduce or negate their damage. Both Blocking and Alternate skills require Melee Charges to use instead of ammunition.
