The Carnax, a strangel alien species known as
The Shatter escaped the Carnax ships in which they stowed away on. When these spacecraft began their invasion of the red planet, The Shatter quickly infected it. They began to build a complex, intertwining city at an alarming rate called Xeno Novis. The hive has expanded its reach all the way from Olympus Mons to the Tharsis Rise, continuing to grow each day. Their massive spires as tall as skyscrapers, labyrinths of caverns, and geological terraforming have made for a truly foreign environment in an already alien world. While they don’t appear to pose an immediate threat to the human colonies, an attack is certainly on the horizon.
Yggdrasil
At the heart of Xeno Novis, the massive Yggdrasil stands as a towering megastructure, its colossal size dominating the skyline. Rising several miles higher than the already massive mountain it is built on, the spire is made of intricate patterns and surrounded by heavily fortified defenses. It serves as a focal point for the Shatter, signifying its significance in
their hierarchy. Atop the spire, the Shatter defends a precious
Queen Spawn.
Eternal Steppes
Stretching outward from the base of Olympus Mons, the Eternal Steppes encompass vast expanses of Martian landscape that have been transformed by the Shatter. Once desolate and barren, it now teems with alien structures. The terrain is undulating, with rolling hills and curving ridges forming an otherworldly vista that extends for hundreds of square miles.
Forest of Needles
A dense and foreboding crystalline forest stands within Xeno Novis. The Forest of Needles is made of towering shards resembling organic needles form an intricate canopy, creating an eerie atmosphere. The forest floor emanates an unsettling glow. Navigating through the tangled maze of twisted and sharp trees requires careful movement and constant vigilance.
The Carrion Field
The Carrion Field is a huge stretch of land that is filled with remnants of the ongoing conflict between the Shatter and the Carnax. Wreckage is seen everywhere as the two factions continue to fight each other, each amassing large amounts of casualties and collateral damage.
The Hollows
A network of intricate caverns and tunnels winds its way through the depths, collectively known as The Hollows. These subterranean passages serve as an intricate labyrinth, with twisting corridors and hidden chambers. Navigating them requires both skill and caution, as danger lurks around every corner. The dimly lit tunnels give off an eerie glow, casting unsettling shadows on the walls.
Ceaseless Chasm
An imposing abyss known as the Ceaseless Chasm stretches deep beneath the surface of Mars. It appears as an endless pit, with steep cliffs, switchbacks, and perilous platforms leading downward into the depths. The journey to its bottom is treacherous, however a mysterious presence is hidden within the darkness, beckoning those brave enough to explore its depths.
Halls of Dread
A haunting maze-like structure known as the Halls of Dread is full of twisting corridors and deceptive passages that challenge even the most skilled adventurers. The long, mysterious tunnels echo and reverberate strange noises. Immense danger looms above those who venture inside, navigating its treacherous paths to reach their destination: the gateway to the Gravelands.
The Gravelands
An immense underground expanse lies beyond the Halls of Dread, known as the Gravelands. These vast and immense caverns form a labyrinthine network, winding through the depths of Xeno Novis. It serves as a one-way path, leading back to the Carrion Fields. The Gravelands are home to hidden chambers and extremely rare materials.
