Battle of Inkhear

The Battle of Inkhear began when Nadira and Moltor ventured into the Giantsheel Swamp, using their fire magic to heard trolls, hydras, and other creatures fearful of fire towards the city of Inkhear in a stampede. The Adventurer's Guild was quick to respond, sending nearly every adventurer in the city out to intercept the incoming monsters. But this attack was merely a feint as the Morlocks armies began to emerge within the city, having dug up from the Underdark to bypass the city's walls.   Shadow Skulls, Molders, Void Beasts, and the Morlocks' duergar allies began to rampage throughout the city streets, targeting residents indiscriminately. This too was in fact a distraction, meant to keep any organized resistance forced on their forces rather than the Morlocks themselves. With the city's defenders distracted, they made their way to the Adventurer's Guild and ventured underground, opening their way through a secret tunnel to the hidden prison that held their master: Mesogog.   The Headhunters managed to figure out the swamp monsters were a distraction before their fellow adventurers, rushing back to the city with risky teleportation magic in an attempt to stop their enemies true objective. They snuck past the Morlocks guards and made their way through the still-active defenses guarding Mesogog's prison, catching up to their adversaries just as Levira began chanting the incomplete Decay Incantation to break the prison open.   Though they tried valiently, even defeating the Black Knight who was revealed to be an undead McGruger in the process, the Headhunters were ultimately unsuccessful in stopping the Morlocks from freeing Mesogog. As the seal began to crack open, Artung "Artie" Dwarforged used his magic to teleport his comrades to safety. He stayed behind alone to face the now free Mesogog and his lieutenants, pouring the entirety of his life energy into a Gravestone in a kamikaze attack that forced the villains to retreat before they could do more damage.   The remaining Headhunters arrived back on the surface to see the Wyvern Knights had arrived to aid Inkhear, air dropping Chigiri's people into the city to wipe out the Morlocks remaining forces. While their Shadow Skulls and Molders were destroyed, Levira recalled her Void Beasts to the Void while their duergar allies retreated back to the Underdark, blowing the tunnels closed behind them with blackpowder.   The death and destruction of this battle fully revealed the Morlocks and the threat they represented to the public, making stopping them the #1 priority for both the Adventurer's Guild and the Kingdom of Lothal's military.
