Ordicus Technomantis (Ord-i-kuus techn-no-man-tis)

The original Order of Technomancy founded in Virnos in the common day Federated Union of Eastern Kalin, the Ordicus Technomantis was effectively formed during the Annexation of Virnos by old Atresa in the late Second Age. The Order of Technomancy split in half, with one half staying in Virnos and refounding itself, and the other escaping the city and sticking by its old beliefs, this order became the Ordicus Technomantis.    In the common day the Ordicus Technomantis is the primary non-national source of Technomancers throughout the continent. Members can either join by applying and being approved, much like the Schola Magus, or by being recommended by an existing member. A small number are also "hereditary" members, or children of high ranking members.    Beyond its Technomancers, the Ordicus is known for its creation and maintaining of Warforged as servants and soldiers, as well as the Knights Technomantis and the Ordicus Rangers.    The Ordicus is based out of its ancient but imposing massive air dreadnought, the "Pursuit of Knowledge" (often simply called "the Pursuit"), which wanders the continent among the clouds. In addition to The Pursuit, the Ordicus maintains Order Workshops in every Kalin nation, except the Federated Union of Eastern Kalin which has its own institutionalized Order of Technomancy.

Structure

The Ordicus is essentially split into two halves: Technomancers and non-Technomancers.    The Non-Technomancers include staff hired to help clean and maintain Order Workshops, those who wish to join but don't show aptitude and are recruited as guards, those guards who go onto become Rangers, and of course the Warforged.    On the Technomancer side, every aspirant starts out as an Apprentice to a higher ranking Technomancer after passing rather difficult entry tests. They apprentice with the higher Technomancer for five years (barring exceptional successes or inventions) and then become an Ordained Technomancers. Every Ordained Technomancer has a "Degree" level, starting at First right after completing their apprenticeship, all the way up to Ninth.   Beyond Ninth Degree Technomancers there is only the Grand Magus, who serves as the overall leader of the Ordicus Technomantis.

Culture

The Ordicus Technomantis is well known for its "light" approach to research and experimentation ethics. Provided an experiment doesn't harm another Technomancer, nor does it harm a non-order aligned person, it's fine to do. An observant legal mind will note that that leaves a lot of wiggle room for possible abuses.
