The Shelling of Lapsus

Military action

"The cooler heads get us nowhere, it is time for a head of gunpowder." -Captain Aubern, allegedly.

After rising political tensions following The Brownwater Massacre, the militaries of Tharrisia and the Union went on high alert, and moved their forces towards their respective borders.   In attempted revenge for Brownwater, Naval Captain Aubern of the FUS Grug, one of the Unions newest battleships, opened fire on a Tharrisian village where they believed the unit responsible for Brownwater was stationed. The shelling leveled the town and killed dozens of civilians, and wounded hundreds more, on top of military casualties.   Aubern was relieved of command immediately, put to a military Tribunal, and executed for unlawful war crimes, but the government refused to apologize to the Tharrisian government.   Tensions boiled even more.
