Blackchurn District
Overview
The Blackchurn District of the Bronze Ring is a largely destroyed area of Novus that sustained heavy damage from the fall, nearly leveling everything in the distric. It has never truly recovered and to this day is covered in centuries-old debris. What sections of the district have been cleared have made way for a variety of factories, processing plants, and power stations. In the early days of post fall Novus, the city was disconnected from the Mekanos Infinitum and the Calyx Arcaneum and was in dire need of supplemental power. This power was found in coal which was plentiful deep beneath Mount Abregoth. To this day, these coal plants are used to generate power. Between the burning of coal, the scorched rubble, and the ashes of Novus before, the district quickly became known as the Blackchurn district.
The Blackchurn district is one of few places that one could find an off the grid experience in Novus without leaving the walls of the city. It is largely lawless, with the private companies who run the power plants and factories providing security for themselves - free from the rules and regulations of the guilds.
Still the Blackchurn District draws the curiousity of those looking to discover more about the past of Novus in the rubble. Occassionally, the Deerai Collective will fund an expedition into areas of the district to recover artifacts of Novus's past.
The Blackchurch is a magnet for organized crime, who move people and merchandsie through the district and through secret access points to the Copper Ring above. The district is also currently facing an epidemic of a fungal colony which is growing at a steady rate from the Mycenarium. However, these issues are easy to forget when they do not impact Novus at large.
