Brass Ring of Bulwarks
Overview
The Brass Ring of Bulwarks is the oldest of the brass rings. it was reforged from the Commanders Signet ring, a magic ring bestowed to the chief military official of Novus by the Riovelle family. The bearer of the Ring of Bulwarks is the highest ranking military official in Novus and serves as the highest ranking general of the Brass Spears of Novus.
Requirements
Duties
- Leads the Brass Spears of Novus in defending the city of Novus
- Oversees other militarized processes in Novus, including prisons, policing, and oversight for the Adamantine Wayfinders
- Advocates for military forces by seeing to the provision for soldiers and maintenance and upkeep of military structures
History
In the wake of the fall, Novus was under martial law, and remained as such for nearly a decade afterwards. As the people of Novus pushed back against total military rule, it was clear that a symbolic gesture would be required to show that martial law was truly at an end.
In the founding of the Brass Ring, this symbol was found by reforging the physical ring, a gift granted by the Riovelles under the old royalist structure. It is said that the ring was melted down, its metal diffused amongst the other metal used to forge the other rings, showing a true diffusing and dissolution to this old way.
Cultural Significance
To this day, there are many people who respect the power of the bearer of the Ring of Bulwarks over the other ringbearers. Loyalty to the military runs deep, but many also understand that the prosperity of Novus is secured by the efforts those who serve.
