Cradle

Cradle, née "Earth", is the birthplace of humanity and the capital of Union. Having undergone an extinction-level event that marked the close of the Capitalocene, Union's government now keeps an intensely-focused eye on environmental stewardship of the planet. Cradle is also the target of several state and nonstate actors, chief among them the Aunic Ascendancy. Notably, the heads of the Karrakis Trade Baronies, oldest of New Humanity's distant settlements and the oldest state on the galactic playing field, does not consider Cradle to be of particular importance, except insofar as it hosts their rivals' various headquarters. Certain Aun take a similar line, though these isolationists have largely self-exiled to Boundary Garden or elsewhere, or have been purged.
