Fool's Hope

Fool's Hope is the southernmost city in Indarran Empire, located in the kingdom of Kuvaria. The city is known as a hub for explorer's and archaeologists venturing into the Sand Sea, as well as a trade stop for the caravans and merchants trading with the cities on the southern coast of Udora such as Sandpoint and Farrock. The most distinctive feature of the city is the enormous humanoid skeleton which lies half buried in the sand, stretching the length of the city.  

Geography

The city sits on the banks of a large river which flows through the center of the city. It borders on the edge of the Sand Sea, a vast desert. The terrain is very rocky and sandy and the climate is hot and arid. Lying in the sand near the desert side of the city is an enormous humanoid skeleton, known locally as The Fool.  

Inhabitants

The city has a larger than the average population of Elves than most of the empire. The city also has a sizeable amount of Lizardfolk and Half-Orc, either visitors or permanent residents who hail from the nomadic tribes in the desert.  

Government

The city is under the rule of House Timurid, and is governed by Lady Sitara, the niece of Lord Ashraf. Lady Sitara is generally well respected by the denizens of the city and is seen as a firm but fair ruler.

The Gold Talons

The Gold Talons are the local law enforcement in Fool's Hope. They are a militia payed for and in service of House Timurid. Their headquarters in the city is known as The Roost, a tall sandstone tower near The Fool's Belly.  

Places of Interest

  • The Skull Dome. A large coliseum built into the skull of the Fool.
  • The Fool's Belly. Inside the rib cage of the Fool is a great open air bazaar, selling all manner of goods.
  • Temple of Ignissa. The largest temple in the city, Ignissa is the primary deity worshiped in Fool's Hope.
  • The Roost. The headquarters of the Gold Talons, the local law enforcement.
  • The Meskin Archive. A library and research facility primarily focused on the archeology of the Sand Sea.
