Oreithyia

Oreithyia (or Orei for short) is a griffin. Her egg was found abandoned after her family was driven out of is home by a manticore. She was taken by Macaria, and incubated on Joel "The Dino Daddy"'s farm. Macaria took the egg with her on their diplomatic mission to the elven lands in the Hollylin Woods. Along the way, Macaria received a pendant from the All-Tree that let her talk to and sense the feelings of the griffin chick. She hatched on the way to the elf palace. She is a fan of eating bugs given to her by Joel and scrambled dinosaur eggs. As Orei grew, Marcaria encouraged her to fly through gentle tosses into the air. Humbuver gave Macaria his cheese bag to use as a training device for Orei. Macaria learned some falconing techniques from Nel and Joel to begin training her to hunt. Eventually, Orei grew big enough to carry Macaria on her back. While only capable of short flights at first, her strength and stamina increased as she practiced.
