Kingdom of Keoland

For several generations, Keoland has been known for it's knights and military prowess. However, within the last three decades, it has suffered multiple military defeats that have pushed it back to it's original borders. Newly appointed King Skotti, recognizing that military expansionism is no longer feasible, now focuses on converting the southern coast that is effectively backwater wildlands into a prosperous trading commodity. As such, he is waging a publicity campaign across the Flanaess to bring persons into this area so that it forces local communities to expand their borders outward. If the communities do push outward, this will also increase stability within the kingdom by reducing the choas that encroaches from untamed areas like the Dreadwood Forest.

Structure

The kingdom's root of power is the King, currently King Kimbertos Skotti. However, due to the size of the kingdom, the rulers have chosen a feudal system of government. The king relies on a network of Dukes, Duchesses, and other royalty to manage their lands according to his overarching plans. Within this confederation of principalities, each ruler implements the king's vision accordingly to how it benefits them personally.    The capital, Niole Dra, lies in the northeastern area of the kingdom and this provides a more direct control of those northern counties, but leaves the eastern and southern counties with less direct control. This effect of geography means that greater power often resides further from the capital.
