Hellhound

Hellhounds, also called Grimms or Black Dogs, may refer to either:

A canine spirit servant of Hekate which can possess recently deceased humans, seemingly returning them to life (although this is not a true ressurection)
A person possessed by one of these spirits

The first hellhound was Hecuba, who was restored to life as a hound by Hekate using the fire of Sirius, the dog star, as a reward for her corageous death.

As a result of their link to Sirius, hellhounds have pyrokenetic abilities, and are immune to fire.

As servants of Hekate, they are guardians of liminal spaces, and maintain the balance of life and death. As cthonic guardians, they have a natural affinity for Banshees.
