The wormhole leads to the Omicron Quadrant near Aztlan.
The original Alliance was between the humans and the Triad, though after the government was set up, they rarely interacted until later. The Mutual Peace Act ensured that the Triad and the humans would never engage each other in battle. Oliveaux Pecanty was named governor.
The aketians, the praxan, and the Triad officially form an alliance with the humans.
Shozo's War referrs to the economic war between the fledgling human economy and the IGBG (Intergalactic Business Guild), namely the praxans. The praxans levied heavy tariffs on human imports into the Yelfrem System in an attempt to upset the human economy. The praxans felt that the humans would become too much competition. Prime Minister Shozo ended up stopping all trade with all IGBG members which led to others following suit and stopping trade as well. The IGBG lost so much money over the next few years, they offered the humans a permanent position within the Guild.
Prime Minister Weis died in office due to Bekier’s Disease, an incurable neurological degenerative disease.
After Weis’ death, the Dark Period occurred where there was no prime minister until an official election could be held over two years later. The humans were worried about a creagan uprising due to the Aketian/Creagan Conflict that began just before Weis’ death. With no leader, they were worried about getting wrapped up in a potential war.
This was primarily a border dispute. The creagans wanted to expand their territory into the Fa'er Nebula, but the Aketians blocked them in a naval standoff that lasted for six months before skirmishes started breaking out. Upon the request of the Omicron Government, the regalans threatened to step in and force the creagans back. This pacified the creagans for a time.
People were so ready for a new leader that Raymond Lester won in a historic landslide victory that will not be seen again until 3210. Raymond Lester is most well known for his signing of the Alliance Charter of 2840. He retired at the end of 2887.
The Alliance Charter of 2840 unified the planets allied with the human government, creating something of a central government. It set up the High Council and the position of Chancellor along with the requirements that must be met in order to join.
There was a small section of space that the creagans claimed as their own and did not like the Omicron Military’s presence there. After what happened with the aketians, the creagans were ready to fight for more territory. There were a few skirmishes, but Raymond Lester settled the dispute by letting the creagans have the section of space for a space station, but in return, it would remain part of the Oliveaux Cluster.
On October 12th, 2928, a privately owned digital newspaper published a headline article claiming that members of the press were being arrested for publishing supposedly slanderous content against the Omicron Military. Though no one could corroborate the story, major news sources picked it up, including Orbit News. The implications of what the story told were enough for people to buy into it, and even more so because it took almost a week for a military spokesperson to come out deny the allegations. It scared some people so much that a riot broke out outside a naval base on Saux. Four people were killed. The private newspaper announced right after that incident that the story was fake, and promptly ceased publishing.
Beck was poisoned, though the perpetrator was never caught. His ministership was fraught with scandal after scandal, mostly having to do with the allocation of government funds that ended up hurting a lot of people financially. Many believe Beck took his own life, unable to cope with the criticisms laid against him, though the police and doctors ruled it as murder.
The Transparency Act required that the government, particularly the prime minister, be more transparent. After what Prime Minister Beck did, the people had lost a lot of faith in the government. Henry Lester ran on making the ministership more open which is one of the big things that got him elected. The Act also implemented a system of checks and balances, such as the council not meeting unless the prime minister or chancellor is present.
Juliette Woods was Olivia Gordon’s secretary. She was made temporary Prime Minister for two months before she is officially elected in.
