The Human Grave

Everyone's lost someone. Friends; families; even enemies. It helps to remember them in the best way we can.
Built as a memorial to those who have died when the bombs fell, The Human Grave is a large construct that everyone in America comes to visit occasionally; to remember and pay respects to the dead. It was built over the span of three years by members of The Refounded, seeing it as a way to properly bury everyone; even if a majority of the bodies couldn't be found.

Purpose / Function

Designed as a proper grave for everyone who died on October 25th, 1962; The Human Grave has thousands of names written onto it; protected from the harsh elements of the winter. People will come here from all over the remains of the United States to visit it and pay respects; despite the long trek that has to be made to reach it. It has been held as a standard by all groups of survivors to cease hostilities when near The Human Grave; as a further sign of respect to the dead.

Architecture

The entire grave is a large stone shaped like that of a pyramid, with engravings found all along it's corners and edges. On each face are hundreds of names carved into it; each being of a person that had died when all of the bombs fell. Each face of the stone has flame-powered Edenite embedded underneath it; heating the surface up and protecting it from the cold.

History

Construction began on October 25th, 1964; two years after the bombs fell and froze the world over. During this time, contributions have been made by all of the groups located in America, with significant contributions coming from The Frozen Core as a means to help preserve it's existence. Due to the vast distance required to travel to it; and difficulty retrieving names that were submitted by the survivors in America; construction tended to drag on at some points. It was completed on November 13th, 1966; open to the survivors on the same day.
