Kala'adrin

The kala'adrin, also known as the bright elves, are an elven subculture found primarily in southern Filia and northern Sona. They are the descendants of wood elven migrants who intermingled with the islands' native sun elves.

Naming Traditions

Family names

Kala'adrin are traditionally mononymic, with the exception being the Aistanë and Aishimë of the Aldanuvian Orders who take a similar "te-" designation as priests of the Scaladosian Wild Dynasty orders.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

The kala'adrin place a high value on love in all its forms, particularly love of one's community and fellow man (known in Kala'adrin Elvish as agape).

Common Dress code

Kala'adrin clothing most often consists of rectangles of cloth, altered and cut very little (if at all), and wrapped around the body to create various garments. The cloth itself is usually richly dyed and decorated with embroidery, batik, screenprinting, or a mix of the three. Even the most everyday clothing is bright and often beautifully decorated. Kala'adrin fabrics are usually soft, light, and airy; the culture's silk is as fine as any found in Scalados, and their closely-guarded methods of weaving cotton and linen create translucent, near-weightless garments of exceptional quality.   Everyday jewelry in bright, high-contrast enamels is common among all social classes. Jewelry with semi-precious stones is uncommon except among nobility; precious stones are reserved almost exclusively for wedding rings, some holy symbols, and magical items that require a particular jewel to function. In contrast, precious metals

Major organizations

The Aldanuvian Orders of south-central Filia, a group of multi-dynastic orders loosely affiliated with the Wild Dynasty, are largely kala'adrin-led.
