The sands of Ashtaal were consecrated when Sarnalos first graced the land with their presence. They blessed the region, promising eternal beauty to those who dwelled there. In return, the people were to offer praise and tribute to the deity. During the early days of Ashtaal, a man named Akataan Hashe Prade achieved a remarkable feat by slaying a great elemental in homage to Sarnalos. Impressed and seeking amusement, Sarnalos appointed him Emperor of the land, and his lineage became the personal assistants to the deity.


Initially, Ashtaal was a barren desert with only a few areas suitable for sustaining life, such as oases. Despite the challenges, the inhabitants made the most of their circumstances. They honed their skills with swords, created intricate paintings, and crafted delicious meals from the limited ingredients available. The songs and dances born from their creative minds brought wonder and awe even to the distant realm of Haden.


Ashtaal became a unique fusion of war and art, attracting tourists with its vibrant cultural offerings. Visitors marveled at the great songs, dances, and culinary delights. For those seeking martial prowess, Ashtaal became a destination for training. The government of Ashtaal is led by the Prade Dynasty, with the current emperor Copaal Craan Prade, who had seven children. While other nobles appointed by the emperor handle laws and governmental matters (aristocracy), the emperor holds the ultimate authority over legislation, mandates, and declarations of war, also serving as the commander of the formidable military force. Ashtaal's primary sources of income include tourism, military-related activities, artistic endeavors, and more recently, archaeological expeditions. Despite having arguably the finest military in Haden, Ashtaal prioritizes their own business, relying on its diverse economic activities to flourish.

Demographics

While the main cities are primarily inhabited by humanoids, there are numerous sentient creatures living beyond the city walls, including insectoids, reptilians, and avian beings. The upper class is often noted for their beauty relative to their respective species, whereas those who do not conform to these standards typically belong to the lower class or reside outside the city limits.

Government

The government operates under an autocratic monarchy, where religion is also utilized as a means of controlling the lower classes. Emperor Copaal Craan Prade holds absolute authority, supported by a select group of advisers whom he views as expendable.
