Serqet- Goddess of Venom (Sir-ket or Sir-kit)

Venomous Empress

Serqet, known by many names including "She Who Tightens the Throat," "Serpent Queen," "Venomous Empress," "Deathbane," "Desert Queen," "Dread Queen," and the "Mistress of Suffering," is the enigmatic and terrifying goddess of poison, venom, suffering, assassination, scorpions, snakes, deserts, healing, and deception.

Serqet is a reserved and enigmatic figure, often seen as lazy due to her indifferent attitude toward divine duties and worshippers. Despite her lethargy, she is feared by all other gods, as her wrath is something even the Primordial Gods would rather avoid. Serqet is notorious for her love of luxury and comfort, often found lounging in the palaces of Kings and Emperors during her active years, indulging in a life of bliss at their expense. Refusing her hospitality was a surefire way to incur her wrath, a consequence that no ruler could afford.

Her perceived laziness stems not from a lack of motivation but from the simplicity with which she could achieve her goals. Serqet finds little challenge in her divine tasks, as everything within her realm of influence comes effortlessly to her. This absence of difficulty has left her with a sense of boredom, leading her to withdraw from her responsibilities and live a life of leisure.

Unlike other gods, who maintain their divine status by answering the prayers of their followers, Serqet cares nothing for worship. She has bestowed her blessing only once, and her disdain for her followers is well-known. However, Serqet’s influence endures because of what she represents. Poison is a force capable of destroying nations and reshaping history, known and feared in every corner of the world. Serqet, as the embodiment of this fearsome power, needs no worshippers to sustain her status.

Serqet’s power is legendary, particularly due to her infamous poison known as The Last Breath, or Cobra's Kiss. This deadly toxin can kill Mortals in a single breath and is capable of bringing even the mightiest gods to their knees. The poison inflicts unimaginable suffering, a slow and painful demise that leaves the afflicted in agonizing torment. It is no wonder that Serqet is feared by all who know of her, from the smallest creatures to the highest gods.

During the Great God War, Serqet was an active combatant, using her poison to kill gods in droves. While she has since withdrawn from the world, the legacy of her venomous touch lingers. Vials of her poison, collected from battlefields long ago, still circulate throughout the world. These vials, numbering only a handful, are priceless relics capable of toppling dynasties and altering the course of history.

Thankfully for the world, Serqet has remained silent for thousands of years. Her absence has allowed the world to breathe a little easier, though the fear of her return never truly fades. The vials of her poison remain a potent reminder of her power, and the mere mention of her name is enough to send shivers down the spines of even the bravest warriors and most powerful gods.

Serqet's indifference to her divine duties and her disdain for worshippers have not diminished her power. Her name is synonymous with suffering and death, and her legacy as the Venomous Empress endures as a dark shadow over the world, a reminder of the terror that poison can bring.

Serqet is born from the essence of Ah Puch- God of Decay and Ailments. Poison being one of the many forms of decay.

Divine Domains

Serqet’s divine domains encompass poison, venom, suffering, assassination, scorpions, snakes, deserts, healing, and deception, each reflecting a facet of her terrifying and enigmatic nature.

Poison and Venom: Serqet is the absolute authority over all forms of poison and venom. Whether it be a lethal toxin or a subtle paralytic agent, all poisons fall under her control. Her mastery over venom makes her the goddess of slow, agonizing death, and she revels in the suffering her poisons cause.

Suffering: Poison begets suffering, and Serqet embodies this truth. The agony caused by her poisons and venom is legendary, with her victims enduring unimaginable pain before their eventual demise. Her dominion over suffering extends to all those who feel pain, both physical and emotional.

Assassination: Serqet rules over the art of assassination, where poison is often the weapon of choice. Those who practice the dark craft of assassination seek her favor, knowing that her guidance can make their lethal strikes unstoppable. In this domain, she is the silent killer, the whisper in the night that brings death without warning.

Scorpions: Scorpions are not only Serqet’s favored creatures due to their venomous nature but also because they mirror her own deadly tail. It is believed that scorpions were created in her image, and they are her loyal servants, often found surrounding her. Their presence is a symbol of her power and her affinity for these creatures of the desert.

Snakes: Snakes, symbols of poison and deception, are Serqet’s second-favorite animals. Those who seek her audience must first traverse a landscape teeming with scorpions and snakes, a deadly trial to prove their worthiness. These serpents are extensions of her will, embodying the silent and deadly strike of her poisons.

Deserts: Born in the scorching deserts, Serqet has a deep love for these harsh, sun-baked landscapes. Deserts are her domain, filled with creatures that share her venomous nature. The unforgiving heat and arid conditions resonate with her essence, making deserts a natural habitat for her influence.

Healing: Perhaps the most paradoxical of her domains, healing under Serqet’s rule is a twisted concept. Poison, for some, is a cure for others. There are rumors, though unproven, that her deadliest poison, the Last Breath, might actually be a medicine that cures all ailments. This idea remains speculative, as those who have encountered it have only met death.

Deception: Deception is crucial in the use of poison, and Serqet is the master of it. She governs the art of deceit, necessary to deliver poison to its target. Her influence ensures that lies and subterfuge thrive, allowing poison to be the ultimate tool of betrayal.

Envy and Jealousy: Despite their close association with poison and suffering, Serqet intentionally excludes envy and jealousy from her divine domains. Her disdain for these emotions highlights her

disdain for their destructive and disruptive nature. Envy and jealousy, while often intertwined with the motives for using poison, are beneath Serqet’s elevated and imposing presence. For her, these emotions represent weakness and petty concerns, which contrast sharply with her grand, terrifying control over poison and suffering. Serqet’s power and authority transcend the need for such mundane and emotionally driven traits.
