Bayreuth
The small town of Bayreuth rests in the southern province of Eizenblume and pays taxes towards the city of Reinhelm and the Valh of Torr Durin. Bayreuth was founded by Cilantos Bayleev in the third age, and his family remain as acting electorates in the county.
Bayreuth was built on the edges of the southern most fork of a winding river called the Moselle, but is more widely known as the Queen's Comb River for its many 'teeth'. It lies at the head of the Dragonturtle Tarn of the Meadow where the fork empties, which is said to have been formed by the impact of a falling star during the time of Tyrannus.
The waters of the Tarn are known to be very warm due to geothermic activity, and the surrounding regions are rich with rare and highly sought minerals and gemstomes including arcane foci crystals. A few private companies, including Tetrastone Minerals of Drin have purchased the mining rights to these mountains, but do allow free folk of Bayreuth to pan the rivers and shallows. Some of the rare minerals of this region include: Kingstone, Sundrop, and Clovermarine.
It is also known to be full of ancient Elven ruins that anyone traveling through the forest are warned to beware of for the Elves left many arcane wards, and traps to defend their homes when they were for forced to flee in War of the Iron Roses. The Black Forest is also haunted by many specters, and shades left over from those turbulent times.
To the east of Bayreuth lies the "Warzwald" or as it is known in the common tongue, The Black Forest.
This wilderness has a storied reputation in Eizenblume and legends of it have been passed down since the time of the sagas. The origin of the forest's namesake has long been a matter of debate between scholars, historians, and natives of the region. Some believe it is was called the Black Forest by the Elves of the Valenruun simply for the fact that there are many areas where the trees grow so close, and so dense that the forest is completely pitch-black. But its name may also refer to several historic events, such as the Battle of Eboncreek, or because Calcifur 'Blackheart' Rennigan (A famed necromancer) was slain within the woods.
Regardless of its origin, the Black Forest is considered quite dangerous for a number of reasons. Putting aside many superstitions about the woodland, it has often been a redoubt for hobbs, goblins, and other tusked threats of Eizenblume.
