Elturgard

Elturgard is a large city in the Western Heartlands. It is the primary competitor of Irrearbor  and has been for hundreds of years. It sits on the banks of the River Chlonthar, the natural boundary between the kingdom of Elturgard and Irreabor. Elturgard is a fiercely religious theocracy, ruled by the Loyal Fury, a religious order in the service of Tyr. This religious following is in part a result of the presence of a strange magical anomaly known as "The Companion" an enormous ball of energy that hangs low above the city, approximately 30 metres in diameter. The Companion floats gently through some form of magic and emits an orange light night and day that is repellent to all undead creatures. The Loyal Fury believe this is a boon from Tyr and worship her thus. It is also the reason for the birth of the "Order of the Companion" a large series of institutions dedicated to paladins- housed in the city.
