Nordheim Dwarves

Related to the more southern Dwarves, Nordheim Dwarves (also called Nordlings by their southern cousins in a derogatory way) far prefer the more northern climates. Specifically their primary mountain home, Djúpr Heima (Deep Home) resides under the furthest mountain range to the north.
Very different from their southern brethren, Nordheim Dwarves are a tougher, quieter Dwarf. Preferring to eschew pomp and the trappings of wealth, they wear furs and leathers, the beads in their beards being hand made of rough gems, stone, wood, and clay.
They value martial prowess over craftsmanship, and collect trophies from their enemies. Teeth, horns, bones, scales, and other pieces often are used to adorn the doorways, hearths, walls, and weapons of the Nordheim Dwarves homes within their mountains.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Nordheim dwarves reproduce the same way and rate that their cousins do, with the exception that only two Nordheim Dwarves together can repeat the gene mutation that leads to another Nordheim Dwarf.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer the furthest north that they can get, and preferably underground. Their special digging techniques to move through frozen soil and rock allow for moving deeper than anyone else can get through the permafrost.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Nordheim Dwarves prefer meat more than anything else, and famously have large feasts full of mulled ciders and meads, and entire roasted animals.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Nordheim Dwarves lack the stone whispers that their brethren posses, instead having a knack for surviving in the extreme colds of the north. Nordheim Dwarves are also more skilled in magic than their cousins, though they specialize more in weather and natural magics.
