Regnomard Family

The Regnomard family is the extended family of Dramonger III of Denyithragorathia.

Members of the Family

The patriarch of this unusual clan is Overlord Dramonger III, supreme ruler of Gorathia. His name before he became Overlord was Charles Grayson. He died shortly before the current Overlord (Almadon Dragos) could be brought to Gorathia. The surname used by his descendants and relatives is simply Dramonger backwards. More than anything else, he had a fondness for the flora and fauna that was unique to his domain.
His brother Samedor eventually defected to Atazicolia and became a popular hero. His own brother arrested him multiple times, which did not seem to alter public opinion in the slightest. After a long, steady career of destruction and chaos, he settled down and became an equally popular senator. Now, at least judging by the limited news reports, he’s gone a little bit senile. Needless to say, Samedor does not remain in contact with his son Bognie, for reasons to be explained in a later section.
Dramonger’s wife Griella died of what I shall only state was a publicly unspecified disease. She was a good woman, if not always the kindest, and she was a major factor in whatever unity the Regnomard family ever had.
They had ten children who survived childhood, an unusual number when considering all the possible dangers this world presents to the families of its leaders. This is not to say that all of these children are still living currently, merely that they survived to adulthood whereupon they are responsible for their own decisions. It does also not mean they are necessarily on speaking terms now. Their names are as follows, in birth order: Devilance, twins Pomposa and Pyrena, Morpheus, Davathorius, Corostron, Shordoconus, Charlimagnus, Obscuro, and Jevinathra.
Devilance, also known as Devin, was banished for attempted murder. Not for the coup against his father, but for attempting to kill a ranking member of the council at that time.
Pomposa went missing shortly after this and no one is certain as to her exactly location.
Pyrena followed her sister as per usual and disappeared around the same time. It can be said with reasonable certainty that they are still living, but no attempt has been made on either their part or the part of their siblings to reconnect in any way, shape or form.
Morpheus is one of the more notable scions of this family, as he was involved in one of the more peaceful transitions of power that Visorta Volenus has seen in the last few centuries. Since then, he has proved to be an apt leader and well worthy of the title of Grand Lord. He is also, quite notably, the only one to retain any kind of contact with any members of his family still in Gorathia, namely his sister Jevinathra. He is known to walk very quietly, no doubt a product of his extensive training in such arts. He has cultivated an intimidating appearance that is somewhat at odds with the child I knew, and is fond of the dual scimitars that are sported on his country’s flag.
Davathorius, also known as Davy, became a professional hero. He is, at least, considered one of the more consistently noble ones, which is a refreshing change from the usual variety of hypocrisy in defections such as this.
Corostron, currently going by Chris Rosander, became a senator in Atazicolia.
Shordoconus, also known as Shad, moved to Earth and while his location is known, he doesn’t return phone calls from anyone remotely related to the Overlord world.
Charlimagnus, also known as Charlie, is the only one of Dramonger’s adult children to be deceased. It was, ironically, an accident of his own making.
Obscuro , usually called Oscar, plotted steadfastly against his father for years until he fell in love with the attacking heroine Alrania. After a failed attempt against his father, he fled Gorathia and married her.
Jevinathra, known to most of her friends and coworkers as Jenny, is the one child who remained in Gorathia through adulthood. See her section for more details. As an aside, her given name of Jevinathra is a fairly popular one in Gorathia because it was the name of the last Overlord’s wife. She doesn’t care for it, personally.
The dark sheep of such a varied group ought to be difficult to define, but the role unarguably belongs to Bognie, the son of Dramonger’s brother Samedor. After the supposed shame of his father’s defection, he left for Zol-Tero, where he eventually became a relatively important lieutenant of the overlord there. After some time he managed to put together enough of a force of his own that he attempted a coup against Gorathia, to claim the country for himself after he was passed over as Dramonger III’s heir. For all that the attempt ultimately failed, it was quite well thought out. He built up a shadowy reputation, manipulated and bribed weaker-willed staff members, and as distasteful as he no doubt found it, he used his plainness of appearance to his advantage and built himself up as a nonentity. He chose the name Baramenios Varkon the Fifth for his brief stint as Overlord.
