Sacred water

The sacred water is a blessed drink used by the Kukai during combat rituals. It grants some sort of "limited immortality" to those who drink it. The actual description given by the kukai says:
"...(the sacred water) prevents any lethal wounds and turns any pain or damage into tiredness."
Because of this, the kukai are able to fight without limits during their rituals, knowing that contenders will always be safe. This is also the reason why all combats will end in a knockout; since the sacred water turns any damage into tiredness, a fainted opponent means it can no longer take damage.
The sacred water is not exclusive to the Mer profession, for any kukai who may participate in a combat ritual must drink it, from the youngest and up to the eldest kukai.

Manufacturing process

One day prior to the celebration of any combat ritual, some of the Nur from Oalmer village go to The sacred lake. There they perform a ritual to bless water. This requires specific prayers and deep meditation that, eventually, will turn the water "motionless", meaning that the blessing was successful. The Nur gather enough of this "motionless water" with wooden containers, which they bring back to the village in order to use it during combat rituals.
The ritual is exactly the same for the village of Pukamut, which is close to the sacred lake. However, the rest of the Kukai settlements must do this in a Sacred Water Shrine; a small fountain which is usually built near a river.

Significance

This water is the result of a ritual taught to the Kukai by their god, Oal-Mer. It has great religious and cultural value. It is used to bless fighters during the combat rituals, the main way to worship Oal-Mer.
Ever since the Followers of Oal-Mer founded their first village, the sacred water has been considered the only religious item with an actual divine origin. Because of this, the kukai will not use sacred water for any other purpose besides combat rituals.
It is believed that the sacred water is responsible for the longevity and great health of the kukai. This seems to make sense considering that every kukai participates in a combat ritual at least once in their life, and thus they must have tried this divine drink sometime.
