Sweetmilk
Sweetmilk is the favoured beverage of the followers of Tybalt, the Prince of Orphans, most of whom are orphans living in the orphanages of Palimpsest. Sweetmilk is not an actual drink that can be purchased or consumed, rather it is a make-believe drink invented by the children who worship Tybalt supposedly made by combining melted ice-cream with all the candy a child can imagine.
In the celebrations of Kitsweet, the holiday dedicated to Tybalt, the children often imagine drinking Sweetmilk and enjoying its sweetness. Even though they may not have access to actual ice-cream or candy, they still participate in the celebration of Kitsweet by pretending to drink Sweetmilk and sharing stories about their favourite flavours and toppings. For these children, Sweetmilk represents a fantasy of a better life and a symbol of hope, reminding them that despite their difficult circumstances, they can still find joy and happiness.
