Interview Excerpts: Did you have to grow up fast?

RESPONSES
Masons
"As in many of our family’s projects, we placed greater attention on steadiness and consistency than on speed per se."
-- Subvizier Aloysius Mason.
Dargent-Laureats
"Well, I mean, I was born the heir, so, you know…"
-- Vizier Victor Dargent-Laureat.
"Not til recently."
-- Viziera Satine Dargent-Laureat.
Ironsides
"No, lad, it was a privilege! I took down my first beast at nine years old, my first man at fifteen, and my first ghoul at seventeen!"
-- Vizier Balthazar Ironside.
"I, uh. I suppose."
-- Subvizier Agamemnon Ironside.
"It was that or become another weapon of my father’s."
-- Katib Menelaus Ironside.
"Emotionally, nah. Physically, absolutely: these arms won’t stop."
-- Katiba Britomart Stargazer-Ironside.
Stargazers
"Nay, my parents had enough clout in the important circles."
-- Vizier Leopold Stargazer.
"I would not say so."
-- Viziera Andromeda Stargazer.
"Unfortunately I had to contend with an important position and a uniquely fraught family, yes."
-- Subvizier Pollux Stargazer.
"Emotionally, nah. Physically, absolutely: these arms won’t stop."
-- Subviziera Britomart Stargazer-Ironside.

"Faster even than many nobles, I fear."
-- Katib Castor Stargazer.
"My mother survives by lying about everything and I’m pretty sure someone had my dad killed when I was two. Slow was never an option."
-- Katiba Cassiopeia Stargazer-Greenskin.

"Exceeeeeeedingly slow."
-- Bartleby.
Dargents
"No. My father was a man of limited vision but he knew enough to reach a comfortable level of power before siring an heir."
-- Vizier Richard Dargent.
"I chose to. I am no-one’s pawn."
-- Viziera Guinevera Dargent.
"Well, I mean, I was born the heir, so, you know…"
-- Subvizier Victor Dargent-Laureat.
"Not til recently."
-- Subviziera Satine Dargent-Laureat.

"I don't know anyone in this cursed city who hasn't had to grow up fast… except Cody, I guess. And maybe some of the elves."
-- Katib Hugo Dargent.
"Oh, no, I’m still just a kid! Can’t you tell?"
-- Katiba Scarlett Dargent.

"Yes."
-- Lindie Asklepa.
"If you mean physically, then no. I'm a bunny which means I've pretty much always been little. If you mean mentally, then also no. I've always been looked after by the people around me. In the warren it was the Bramble Church, then in the Menagerie it was Bramble himself. And now, it's Master Hugo and Lindie."
-- Connie Furr.
"Slowly and then all at once."
-- Voltaire.
Carterholds
"Like, at least twice."
-- Katiba Rouge Carterhold.
Bakerstreets
"I spent the first six years of my life as just-about the only human boy in the upper slums. Then I spent the next seventeen surrounded by the Honourable Company. There was a lot to learn to stay on top."
-- Vizier Cobbler Bakerstreet.
"...[shakes head]..."
-- Subviziera Diana Bakerstreet-Underhand.
"No and no."
-- Katib Cody Bakerstreet.

"...[shakes head]..."
-- Katiba Diana Bakerstreet-Underhand.

Baharats
"I did not. Perhaps it would have been easier if I had; though it did allow me time to blossom and, hopefully, flourish."
-- Ex-Subvizier James Baharat.

"No. My parents homeschooled me so I didn’t have to master social situations until I was 108."
-- Beautiful Baharat Guard.
"Yes. I left the Warren with my dad when I was maybe six, and the Menagerie caught me within a year or two. I started earning my keep as a performer before I reached adulthood."
-- Martini.
Brasseyes
"Not yet, certainly."
-- Katiba Grimoire Brasseyes.
Darktusks
"The fuck’s that meant to mean?"

-- Viziera Cassilda Shajara.
Brambleites
"Nay, I was gifted with the nimbleness to dodge and parry whatever slings and arrows may be thrown my way, in life as in combat!"
-- Bugsby Cottontail.

-- Martini.

"I never got the chance to grow up at all. The fox was pretty swiftly disciplined away before I can really properly remember."
-- Vulpix.
"I was fifteen when we had our first kid. A little younger than some, I suppose, but I didn’t have much to do with the birthing. Or, for that matter, the kid. She’s turned out okay though… she’s um, doing… something productive, I think."
-- Warren Furr.
"I conceived my first kid when I was sixteen, which is pretty normal for a rabbit."
-- Winnie Furr.

-- Krona Tailfeather.
"Yes."
-- Lindie Asklepa.

-- Yvette, the Courtesan.
"They told me I did, and I refused. I did grow out a lot faster than expected, though, all compliments to the Tailor - my poor grandmother blistered her paws trying to keep up with my necessary early-teen clothing adjustments."
-- Yvette Vixois.
