The Suppuration

The suppuration (20 Less to 10 more Foreseen): starting in the meat/komodolands, and ravaging the Pangol Empire  (hence its other name, the pangol rot) before expanding into neighbouring territories and finally flaming out, this disease causes the flesh and lungs to necrotise into large pustules. Death is caused by suffocation or secondary infections from open sores.

Transmission & Vectors

Spread via fluids meeting mucous membranes, in particular from coughing or contact with pus.

Causes

not understood, but some rumours that it is a manufactured infection created in the komodolands.

Symptoms

• Early symptoms include a cough and itchy, sore eyes, nose, and throat, flaky skin
• then pustules develop on the skin, particularly on and around mucus membranes. these pustules ooze and weep fluids.
• hacking cough and fluids filling the lungs
• damage to eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and other orifices 
• death is by suffocation, dehydration or secondary infection

Treatment

ineffective treatments:

• popping, draining, or excising the infected pustules - often carried out by Formicant-surgeons
• heating or cooling the body
• various prayers and quack medicines.

• high-intensity chrome-infusion

Prognosis

Survival rates are relatively low, around 60%, and many of those are who survive are left with lingering injuries.

Sequela

• blindness and/or deafness
• chronic shortness of breath
• pustule-scars
