Trader's League

the Trader's league offer a support service (accommodation, food, advice, translation, and so on) to members in return for a yearly fee or a cut of profits. Their offices extend from the Nidari Reach as far as Dow, and they are a particularly powerful force on Elritund and in the Barren Isles.   The Trader's League Accords, the nearest to a body of laws for Elritund and the Bindkelp Sea, are also associated with the League. they are loosely based on Etneshkan Law Codes (are they???). it relies on agreed third parties rather than a state entity to settle disputes, though duels are (rarely) used, especially when no arbitrator can be found. They were signed in the aftermath of the collapse of the fourteenth Blackpowder Cartel in 311LF.   the trader's league is, on surface, an organisation of almost unmatched spread and power. And indeed, the signing of the accords in Elritund, featuring attendees from as far-flung places as the Sokani Archipelago, The Giteri, Haba-ish, and the Mangrove Coast of Dow, was an almost-unprecedented event.  however, the League is not a centralised entity, and though group membership is touted as allowing free trade across thousands of kilometres under common laws and excises, in reality there are many incompatible regional leagues with their own memberships and rules. as most traders only cover relatively short stretches of trade-routes, this is not readily apparent even to the fairly well-informed.
