Aelcere

WORK IN PROGRESS PLEASE IGNORE Aelcere, the Mixed Ones. When the Pureblood Houses found that they could not keep breeding only with fellow Purebloods, they relinquished their obsession with blood purity and married outside. The results of these consummations are the Aelcere. Some of the Blood Magic their Pureblood parents had were passed on in small doses, rendering them able to channel the innate power of crystals. Because of the abolishment of Blood Magic, Aelcere are generally not allowed to use their power unless requested by the governing body, however, there are some wayward souls who decide otherwise for themselves.

Aelcere are oppressed in many ways due to their genetic inability to lose their magic. In fact, in many nations, Aelcere are not allowed to marry another Aelcere to prevent the extension of their abilities to their offspring. Instead, an Aelcere must marry a normal Aelvanir to cut off the bloodline, for an Aelcere-Aelcere consummation will produce another Aelcere child. There have been individuals who have broken this rule, and with grave consequences.

Many Aelcere have taken to joining their nation's military force to be better accepted by their community, with varying results. Some have been shunned by their villages, and some have decided to live in small towns of their own design in borrowed land (with permission from the House who has jurisdiction over the territory). Generally, most Aelcere would simply like to live as normal a life as they can without judgement, and many have receded from larger cities to live a simpler life among like-minded people. The number of Aelcere in major cities known to be generally oppressive have dwindled, with only a handful remaining.

Aelcere in Hydrurga Nations - Hydrurgan Aelcere

[quote]
Aelcere in nations primarily run by the Hydrurga are ultimately more accepted - this is mostly because many Aelcere can trace their ancestors back to Hydrurga Blood Houses. If living in nations under a Hydrurgan jurisdiction, Aelcere are allowed to marry another of their kind. However, Aelcere born in other nations may not become a Hydrurgan Aelcere due to legal limitations. Many of their naming traditions and cultures have been married with Hydrurgan customs, and new ones were also formed to introduce the Mixed Ones into their lifestyle.
