Sparring Games

History

One key factor in the advancement of an Avatar is Earth's perception of them. It was found early on that the amount of Ether an Avatar could pull into their form was related in part to how the people of Earth thought of them. The United Nations and researchers at Waddiche Academy devised a form or televised spectacle where Avatar Units would combat each other to submission with announcers that would emphasize the incredible feats being shown in battle.
The 1st Sparring game took place in 2039 and proved that the exposure to the public allowed for the more rapid advancement of the Avatars' involved strengths.

Execution

Two Units, in their Avatar forms, are transported randomly onto a battlefield and given a start signal. The teams then utilize their abilities and coordination to put down the other team. An Avatar is considered knocked out when they fall out of their Avatar form. The team with the last standing survivor is the technical winner but the key focus is for the Academy to show the strength and skill of all combatants.
In most cases, there will be a prize announced and awarded to a winning team. These prizes are often sourced from Limbo or other planes and are called Ether Items.

Components and tools

At the Academy, a large stadium has been constructed using a floor of Flume Gems. A team of researchers, along with people with naturally high Ether Conduction levels, shape the battlefield into whatever is deemed the scenario for the match.

Participants

Two Avatar Units compete, chosen of similar Ether channeling capacities.

Observance

The stadium at Waddiche Acadmeny seats 110,000 fans, and the matches are televised worldwide.
