The Original One

According to legend, it shaped the Pokémon universe using its 1,000 arms. It is told in mythology that this Pokémon was the first Pokémon born before the universe even existed, causing it to be referred to as "The Original One". In myths and legends, it generally considered to be one of the strongest Pokémon, if not the strongest. Arceus wielded the 17 Plates of Creation, bestowed upon it at the same time it was born into existence. Each Plate represented an elemental force. As its first act, it used the Plates to create Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, who each wielded the primordial forces. Armed with these sacred artifacts and with the help of the Creation Trio, Arceus molded the world, shaping land, sea, and sky with divine finesse.
As the universe expanded and split like atoms, the Original One found that it could not police every divergent reality. To compensate for this oversight, it used all of the energy in the Plates of Creation to create lesser versions of itself. These Alpha Vessels acted as physical agents that could carry out the Original One's will. Each Arceus was given the power to create its' own pantheon. Its power depleted, the Original One slumbered for 25 billion years as the multiverse expanded.
In the modern age, the Original One was slain by the Renegade God, a particularly vengeful Giratina. This led to various changes in the natural order, and the Plates of Creation scattered across the multiverse, with some ending up in Thenia.
