Shan Liang

Shan Liang is a large empire to the east of the Scaled Peaks that takes up much of Eastern Polnarus. Its capital is The Golden City, on the far eastern coast of the continent. From this grand city a figure known as the Immortal Empress rules.
This vast empire is made up of ten diverse regions such as the fertile Wo Valley, the rolling Plains of Buoluo, the lush Conglong Coast, the high Jinglian Plateau, and the island chain known as String of Pearls. Other provinces include the Lakelands, the Nasu Woods, the Cloudy Ash Forest, and the mountain range known as Ioun's Sash. Lastly is the Imperial Province, in which the Golden City rests. Each province is a relatively independent tributary state governed by its own individual ruler or rulers.
Shan Liang also borders the elven nation of Ardentwood and the mysterious Misty Wilds, as well as several bodies of water, such as the Dragon's Scar Sea, the Youfeng Sea, and the Lán Sè Ocean.
Its peoples are as diverse as its locales. Less common races, like aarakocra, kenku, tortles, tabaxi, kitsune, minotaurs, and lycanthropes all have a home in the Shining Lands.
Legend tells that four mythical guardian beasts protect Shan Liang, one for each of the cardinal directions. A bird guards the North, a dragon the East, a tiger in the West, and a tortoise in the South.
