Shangri-La
Shangri-La was supposedly founded in -2850 ME, when a group of dragons led humanoids into the Scaled Peaks and showed them a habitable plateau on the Everlasting Mountain. The Old City is no longer inhabited, having been built on top of over the millennia.
Traditionally, the Hidden City, as it is also known, has been ruled by a dragonborn of noble blood. This ruler is called a Khan or Khana and sits upon the Brass Throne. In the past, Shangri-La served as a trade hub between Shan Liang to the East and the scattered tribes of the Scorched Expanse. It is virtually self-sufficient, growing much of the city's food on the Terraces.
In 1405 HE, a violent takeover dethroned the previous ruler, Khana Nethiri, and installed a red dragonborn warlord named Khan Braxor. 15 years later, in 1420, the influence of a group of adventurers from Serpentine, The City of a Thousand Roads changed the direction of politics in Shangri-La. Dubbed the Golden Revolution, this one day revolution returned the Khana to power.
