The Marsh

The Marsh is the collective term for the bleak expanses of bogland that extend beyond LBN BlastWalls.
The Marsh is the final refuge for attempted escapees who find themselves trapped between the LBN gun towers and the churning icy oceans that surround the isle.  These unfortunate InMates have nowhere to run and are forced to find whatever meagre shelter and sustenance they can from their sodden surroundings. The escapees best chance is to make the dangerous crossing to the Fury, chartering a vessel from the established coastal cannibal tribes.
The FED have little interest in retrieving these InMates due to the unforgiving environment and ever present resource limits. They conduct sporadic sweeps of the Marsh when patrols go missing. Unless the InMate is of exceptionally high value they are terminated without hesitation, deemed as too high a risk to future security performance statistics.

Geography

Much of the Marsh consists of terrain considered secondary for LBN expansion, the last of the isles mist shrouded mountains, lakes and estuaries choked with foetid mires. Large areas of the low land surrounding the LBN are permanently waterlogged due to fluctuating sea levels, poor drainage, and waste from The Filth.

Fauna & Flora

The Marsh has an impressive ecosystem of indigenous flora and fauna, left largely unchecked by FED and Syntient Management. The noble ShiteHawk being a constant reminder of the synergy between LBN and its natural surroundings. Other creatures include Bleeches, JumBucks, BogSnatchers and the elusive PlugCat. Plant life is mainly hardy shrubs, mosses and grasses.
For as long as any Q_Ranker can recall there have been tales of fell beasts that roam the deepest reaches of the Marsh. Some suggest these myths are FED propaganda to dissuade attempts at escape, while others believe engineered hybrids have been released by LBN Management to cull the populations of feral escapees. Less speculative InMates point to drone footage of numinous forms skulking through bogs, alongside reports of FED perimeter patrols going missing.
