Badlands' Tribes

The various Badlands' Tribes, while technically under the rule of Thraex, are also their own entity. Created by Derilin for the purpose of his war games and abandoned in the arid desert territory, the more monstrous species created their own cultures and communities that revolved around protecting each other and defending against outsiders. As dangerous creatures roamed the surrounding wilds, the tribal communities roamed as well, learning and growing until they were powerful to stand on their own, clashing against each other to prove their own strength and willingness to kill.

Structure

The various tribes of the Badlands are disconnected, only brought together under Thraex by their sworn duty to the Thrai King. Even under their sworn conscription to the Thrai army, they almost never stay longer than necessary, returning to the open plains after the mandatory seven years. Small clashes between tribal units occur often, with each tribe having set territories and customs. The common title of a tribal leader is Talon, and they are often chosen through merit.

Culture

The tribal units are tightly knit, each one as close as a family. Kids are raised by communal groups, and elders are taken care of even after they stop being able to provide help to the tribe. Magic and magic users are highly prized in these tribes, and they also value strength and the ability to survive. They hold people to the value of their word, and hate liars and debt holders.

History

Created by Derilin, the various tribes fought one another until a few banded together and with the new settlement of Kremos and created the land of Thraex. Eventually the entirety of the Badlands declared loyalty to Thraex, and was 'united'. Though the tribes still were seperate and existed as their own units and cultures, many of the cities and settlements of Thraex only learned of the largest tribe, Graji, and called all members of the tribal lands Graic, not bothering to differentiate between any of them. This refusal to partake in the native culture is part of the reason the tribal groups and the stationary citizens do not mix well.

Demography and Population

Mostly orcs, goliaths, and the other races considered more monstrous, as the Badlands began to be colonized by the rest of Prodosía, and Thraex was created the Badlands' Tribes accepted new members whether through marriage or simply because those new members wished to join. The only requirement was the ability to survive, and the want to live under the open sky, with the freedom of the badlands surrounding them.

Worship

As the creations of Derilin, they worship him as their god. However, as they were forgotten by him more often than not, it is less of a devout religious structure, and more lax.
