Severmarkish Union of Federative Democratic Socialist Republics

The Tåmazhevite Union or Severmarkish Federation, officially the Severmarkish Union of Federative Democratic Socialist Republics is a country that spans the entirety of Severmark and parts of Kélaria from 33 BVK onwards. A Socialist-Tåmazhevite state, it is a federal union of four national republics with a de-centralised government. It's a multi-party state representative democracy with the Republic of Lekhisjóða serving as the capital republic and the cities of Lyfjagrad, Severskrona, Kvitnåvskoye and Nyvo-Sikhstad serving as capital-metropoles. Other major cities include Lesnya-Svåstuna (Ljodasvaedan SFDSR), Tvyezda (Lekhisjóðan SFDSR), Svibodsgård (Vostoksvîkish SFDSR) and Ryukazhan (Òsklyzemlyan SFDSR).

History:

Origins and Foundation:

The country's origins lay in the 33 BVK Red River Revolution, also known as the Treaty of Hârjalinna or the Red River Concordate, signed on the 29th August 33 BVK in Lekhisjóða. Severmark had been under control and de facto annexed by the Kingdom of Kélaria until roughly a decade before the Red River Revolution. Political upheavals in Kélaria itself, combined with the efforts of the Severmarkish People's Independence Movement, courtesy of Kjell Viktersen Åkhrimenko , Godric Siwardsen Tåmazhev and Sanna Gavrielna Skôglind  among others founded in 37 BVK eventually forced King Bénardin III and at the time Premier Minister Polydor Seznec to negotiate. The 41 BVK publishing of "Red Severmarkia", Tåmazhev's and Åkhrimenko's seminal work on sociopolitical and economic theory also proved to be essential in motivating the Severmarkish population to stand up for themselves. In 36 and 35 BVK, SEVPIM officials and Kélari leaders negotiated gradual Severmarkish independence and an end to the Kélarification campaign. These efforts finally culminated in the 33 BVK signing of the Treaty of Hârjalinna by K.V Åkhrimenko, T.L Vînlist, T.J Lovik and J.I Shostvak representing the four Severmarkish Republics. This treaty was motivated by the suspected assassination of G.S Tåmazhev the year before and united the four Republics into one political, economic and military federative Union; at the same time abolishing any recognition of Kélarian Rule in Severmark.   After Tåmazhev's death, K.V Åkhrimenko was elected as High Secretary of the SEVPIM in 33 BVK. It was decided by the freshly established Representative Congress at the end of Åkhrimenko's first term that Åkhrimenko should remain in power for the time being, with a rotating council of county leaders at his side. Additional steps towards government devolution were taken with the establishment of local county administrations and city district representatives, each with their local election cycles. The intent was to prevent an emerging apathy or even hostility to the political which could lead to reactionary and regressive movements, destabilising popular rule. Furthermore, the Union underwent of rapid industrialisation and R&D programmes that led to significant economic and population growth and it was thought that Åkhrimenko's strong hand type of governing would be best suited to manage this period of economic buildup.   Two of the SUFDSR's most important allies were gained in the years between 29 and 21 BVK. The Union sought to gain as much international support and ties as possible and signed several trade and mutual support agreements. Most notably, trade contracts were signed with Lucrétia and the Kalthofean League. The latter, the Kalthofean League would even go as far as send an Expeditionary Force in support of the SUFDSR during the Great Kélarian War while Lucrétia would stay de jure neutral, but de facto kept trading and exchanging technologies and equipment with Severmark.

Crisis and the Great Kélarian War of Eiðmorall:

On the 23rd of July, the Nådimev Canal was seized and taken under Severmarkish control as, according to Union leadership, it lays firmly on Lekhisjóðan territory. The Nådimev was constructed in 57 BVK at the decree of King Bénardin III in order to facilitate maritime travel between the Sea of Kélar and the Rôesian Sea, and by extension also the Southern Green Sea towards the overseas Kélarian Colonies. The seizing of the Canal outraged the new Kélarian sovereign, Bénardin's eldest son Cyran I who promptly began mobilising the Kélarian military. Premier Minister Finian de Raîs opposed military intervention and favoured diplomacy, blocking the Court from effectively overruling the Senate and Royal Assembly of Kélaria. This enraged Cyran I even more, so much so that de Raîs was murdered on the 31 August 19 BVK in Grand Sérandour by Cyran I's henchmen. With de Raîs being highly popular and the population hostile to Severmark, Cyran I had little trouble blaming de Raîs' death on supposed "Tåmazhevite cut-throats", further reinforcing public hostility against Severmark and pushing his mobilisation effort.   Four years later, on the 31st August 15 BVK, Kélarian Special Operations teams began "Operation Jacotin": A False-Flag operation was staged at the Nådimev Canal to make it appear as if the Severmarkish Garrison had executed Kélari Staff members. A few days later, the Kingdom of Kélaria officially invaded the SUFDSR via the Southern Elnaâra Passage, the Ekvîken Strait crossing, the Leshkara Arid Region and the Kaergârd Plains in Vostoksvîken, blockading all movement to and from the Sea of Kélar. At the same time, Troops from the Duchy of Cantacasonto landed on the Laetsitûnian Peninsula with assistance from the Kélarian Navy. With the outbreak of the Great Kélarian War, Union Forces were initially pushed far back north into Severmark, with even Lyfjagrad coming under Siege. After the Breakthrough on the Kaergârd plains with "Operation Gnîsta", the Kélarian flank was broken and reinforcements from Lucrétia and the Kalthofean League could arrive via the Ljodavolna Convoys. This marked the turning point in the War as Unionist Army groups were able to push back the Kélari Invaders into Kélarian territories, eventually capturing Pondt-Brékilien and bombarding Sanct-Cyhin. After a brutal back-and-forth in mainland Kélaria, Armistice was finally declared on the 11th November 0 B/AVK. Severmarkish and Kalthofean Troops soon marched through Grand Sérandour with Cyran I being exiled.   In the Aftermath of the Great Kélarian War, the border districts of the Kélarian Kingdom were occupied by Severmarkish Forces and eventually returned to the local population in 18 AVK. The Rest of the Kélarian territory was given to a temporary government called the Skagafjor Protectorate, which was strongly influenced by the SUFDSR to prevent any violent uprisings by old Kélari Royalists. The South Kélarian Peace Consolidation Flotilla (SKPCF) was created and stationed in Piérinsdam under command of the Skagafjor Protectorate.

Present:

In 25 AVK, the Severmarkish Union co-founded the Viridian Treaty Alliance Pact (VITAP) together with Lucrétia, the Kalthofean League, the new Federal Republic of Kélaria and the State of Cantacasonto. As of 40 AVK, the States of Alétannia and New Clannoisie are seeking to join.

Religion

The Severmarkish People's Union of the Four Republics is officially Atheist and fully secular, but tolerates individual worship, most notably New Tryggkirrianism.
