Southern Nescius
A jungle and swamp ridden wilds adjacent to and largely untouched by the neighboring metropolice of Behemith.
Localized Phenomena
The lands of the Nescius peninsula south of Behemith are as mysterious as they are unsafe. The entrance to the fey wild lies in within the subtropical woods. A vine covered tree, never in the same location, a tangle of roots, a claustrophobic entrance into the fey. Because of this the landscape appears to shift, time acts strange, and orientation is challenging at best. Southern Nescius has never been able to be mapped. Many Iphyth’kihn and Oseta land surveyors have gone missing in the woods below what would later become Behemith.
Off the west coast somewhere deep in the Vathyc sea, it is rumored by sailors that an entrance to the plane of water is guarded by a powerful deep-sea entity. Trade ships heavily avoid the suspected region, which some have claimed to be an enormous whirlpool.
South of the peninsula is the islands of was Karam, which is known to be inhabited by many dangerous creatures, as well as a volcano which is rumored to house a giant red dragon named Jad'zotol. Since uncertain dangerous lands were in such close proximity to the cities of Behemith and Iphyth’kihn, a need from protection drew followers of Helm to station the Citadel right in the center of everything, where they keep a vigilant watch to this day.
Climate
Subtropical.
History
Early on in Behemith’s history, a wall was built, complete with lookout towers to protect its citizens. As the city grew, the walls have expanded outward, though every expansion just a bit smaller than the previous. Present day southern expansion is halted as to maintain a margin of safety between the city and the dangerous wilds of Southern Nescius.
