Preparing to Distract Hazlik--Hazlan
General Summary
After setting up Julien in a safe campsite, you made a plan to distract Hazlik. You found an old farmhouse, overgrown with some kind of unnatural fungus that had killed its inhabitants, and gathered up the following supplies:
- Scroll of distracting cacophony;
- Lamp oil;
- A net;
- An Eye of Hazlik talisman;
- A whole bunch of poison oak, which Rose managed not to embarrassingly poison herself with;
- am I missing anything?
You drew a summoning circle like the one Iskander had made on the floor, then Vanya cast
disguise self to make himself look like Iskander and cast
invisibility on Rose. Rose tried to scry on Hazlik and failed, and you crossed your fingers and hoped that he was going to detect scrying right back on you. Vanya puttered around the farmhouse setting up a net to make it look like you were planning to cast
antimagic field and drop a trap on Hazlik, hoping he was scrying right back at you. When
disguise self was about to wear off, Vanya held up an Eye of Hazlik and yelled into it in a panic, saying he'd summoned a demon that was trying to kill him and he needed help. You left the farmhouse, hid nearby, and hoped that Hazlik would show up in high dudgeon about this clumsy assassination attempt.
As you waited, the wind started blowing through the trees, and Rose recognized that it was speaking druidic:
